From NYC To Amsterdam
Asics, the Japanese footwear brand, has recently released two new colorways of their new GEL-NYC sneaker. Sneaker District and Asics celebrated the release of these two new colorways with a collaborated shoot.
The GEL-NYC is a new silhouette inspired by three retro running shoes from the early 2000s – the GEL-Nimbus 3, the GEL-MC PLUS V, and the GEL-Cumulus 16. The result is a shoe that captures the retro spirit of the early 2000s while also incorporating modern technology for advanced comfort and support.
The silhouette is available in a range of colorways that take inspiration from iconic buildings in New York City. The dark midnight blue leather with white mesh is low-key and stylish, while the light milky white leather with black mesh and golden embroidery logo is very versatile. Each one captures the casual playfulness of the streets of New York.

The new sneaker is the brainchild of Angelo Baque and his brand AWAKE NY. The sneaker is an entirely new creation that fits perfectly into today’s spirit of the times, built for the streets of New York City. As the rollout of the Awake GEL-NYC was a success, the upcoming slate contains a total of 8 pairs, which go one step further to show what this new silhouette is made of. With its unique design and modern technology, the GEL-NYC is one to watch.
